About me and my practice
My name is James Hodgeon Im a qualified therapeutic Person-Centred counsellor. This humanistic approach works with the way that people perceive themselves raising awareness and understanding of the person. Working in the here and now focusing on the person as a whole facilitating and allowing the person to achieve greater independence and skills to cope with current and future issues. Person Centred counselling is a theory which can help people work through life issues such as depression, anxiety, bereavement, life transitions, anger, to name a few. I have over 30 years of experience working with mental health and emotional well-being, supporting people with life events that can be difficult to talk to family members and friends about. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, MBACP. I trained at Leeds and Salford Universitys for my graduate and post graduate training. I receive monthly supervision in line with the ethical framework of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, have full professional indemnity insurance and DBS checked. I work with adult 16 years and above, older adults and trainees/students and this service is delivered, face to face by telephone or zoom video call.

The first session I find it useful to see if we can work together, complete an assessment and go through our contract of working together.
There is no charge for this first initial 30min assessment over the phone or by zoom video.

I currently have some availability. If you phone sometimes I could be busy, please leave a message on the answer machine or email me and I will get back to you within 24 hours. At the moment I work Tuesdays, Thursdays, Friday 10am till 6pm and Saturday mornings 10am till 1pm
